The Somtum Lao Style Papaya Salad is more pungent, flavored with fermented fish sauce. It's great combo of the freshness of the papaya, crisp, salty, umami flavor. It come with pork rinds you can crumble on top. If it's your first time with Lao flavor, it might be too strong for your taste due to the fermented fish sauce. Just ask them to go light and have some sauce on the side. The pork belly is tender, melts in your mouth fatty goodness. It does comes with a lettuce and lettuce on the side. Make you a lettuce wrap and Eat with sticky rice. Very casual restaurant, you place your order at the counter and they bring your order at your table. Do expect to wait a little since everything is made fresh to order. It's a small dining area, but most of their business is take out. It does get busy during lunch hour. The service is warm with a smile. Price is on the high side but the quality is worth it.

Thai / Lao Street Food Across the Street from Costco Wholesale!! I got the Pad Seew, Somtum Lao Salad, and Thai Tea. I was asked when ordering what spice level I wanted on all the foods. I got mild for both the Pad Seew and Somtum Lao Salad. The Pad Seew wasn't too spicy, it tasted like typical Pad See Ew you could get anywhere. I got mine with shrimp which was $3 extra so for $3 extra, I got 6 average sized shrimps. The Somtum Lao Salad had a kick even though it was mild. It was very spicy, but the flavors are like regular Lao Papaya Salad. The Somtum Lao Salad came with a bag of pork rinds which were delicious. The Thai Tea was good! The employee made it right in front of me after I ordered and paid so it came out pretty quickly. The employee is very friendly. She spoke Khmer very well, and she was very nice! The restaurant is really clean and nicely decorated. Most people seem to typically order over the phone or online and pick it up, or people just order and take it to go. There was no one dining in when my family came in at 4pm on a Tuesday. The restaurant has regular chairs and tables, but they also have a booth on the side. There's a giant mirror in the restaurant which is nice. I believe I read on the counter that there was a $10 minimum in order to pay with credit card so keep that in mind if you're paying with credit card! Everything about this place is nice, and the food was average. It's a good place if you want to grab-and-go Thai or Lao street food, or if you want to try out Thai or Lao street food. I think there isn't anything that differentiates the food or this place from other places.

Owl Owl is a perfect blend of Thai/Lao food - it's a tad more pungent than what you'd expect and I'm here for it. We shared the following: -somtum Lao $13.99): Lao style papaya salad, tomatoes, garlic mixed with fermented fish sauce -pad Thai with chicken ($13.99): skinny noodles with your choice of protein, wok fried with house tamarind sauce, bean sprouts, green onion + egg -boat noodle soup ($15.99 : rice noodles, bean sprouts, green onion, beef, meatballs + Chinese broccoli I think we went regular spicy with the somtum Lao and geez was it was spicy. Despite the fire burning effects, the salad was so, so good. I like the Lao version of this salad quite a bit. Unlike the Thai sibling, it's just simply papaya and tomatoes with a very pungent sauce. Delish. Highly recommend. The Thai boat noodles were giving what they needed to give. They were a bit sooty which I didn't mind, but don't prefer. The broth had great flavor - full body and spicy. It more than satiated any Thai boat craving. A friend recommended the somtum platter which gives you a sample of all their apps. I will definitely be back to try it. Highly recommend Owl Owl.

I ordered the Tom Yum soup with medium spice. The aromatic flavors stand out in the soup and it comes out at the perfect amount of heat. Seating is usually very open given that most customers come here to take out only, but I would recommend eating soup in the restaurant itself to maximize freshness.

Nestled in an unassuming strip mall, Owl Owl is a small restaurant serving Thai food. This is the type of place you order before you take a seat. I had the Pad Thai with steamed tofu and it was delicious! Since I chose tofu as my protein, the cashier asked if egg was okay in case I was vegetarian. Very courteous and prompt service. The Thai tea came in a huge cup, not sure if this is one size but it's huge! It was a little sweet but if you let it sit for a bit the ice will dilute it.

Awesome gem in signal hill! I ordered 9 trays from them for a work lunch, and it was a big hit. Everything was super flavorful and the mild spice was just right to accommodate everyone. Watch out for the occasional Thai chili! I love it but some people definitely got spiced out. I was a bit conservative and ordered the popular items that most people would like. I definitely want to try more of the lao specials next time! Here's what I ordered for 30 people with plenty of leftovers for people to take home: - large tray of tofu pad see eww - small tray of tofu owl fried rice (must try!) - small tray of tofu kapow - small tray of lao style papaya salad (must try!) - small tray of beef kapow (must try!) - small tray of chicken wings - small tray of chicken larb (must try!) - small tray of garlic pepper chicken - small tray of steamed rice

This place is counter service and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The dining area is small but cozy, and I noticed plenty of people coming in for takeout, which speaks to the restaurant's popularity. We ordered the Chicken Kaprow, spicy (one level below Thai spicy), and it was bursting with flavors from the stir-fried basil, chilis, bell peppers, and onions. I added extra chili oil and chili flakes to elevate the heat, and it was perfect with the rice. Also tried the Boat Noodles, which we ordered with medium spice level. The broth was incredibly rich and full of flavor, complemented by the mix of herbs and spices--delicious! There were also extra chili and pepper on the side for those who enjoy a bit more heat. Staff comes around periodically to refill waters.

Owl Owl is delicious. The hubs and I stopped by for lunch before picking up the kiddos from school. Service wasn't as fast as we expected because business is BOOMING, but we got out the door in a timely fashion. Their dining room is small. You order at the counter. We opted to eat inside and felt like the people who worked here were very sweet. I tried the Moo Ping skewers. So delicious. My husband loved his dish, too! Parking was super easy.
